Wingsuit
Wingsuit flying at the Verbier Air Show delivers an aerial spectacle that is hard to match anywhere on earth. Pilots fly alongside Mont Gelé at nearly 4,000 metres altitude, wearing aerodynamic suits that transform their bodies into wings. By spreading their arms and legs, they inflate the fabric panels of their suits and glide above you at speeds that can exceed 200 km/h.
Flying a wingsuit demands absolute mastery of body aerodynamics. Every shift of the shoulders, hips or legs alters the pilot's trajectory and speed. Athletes trace lines along the terrain, carving visible paths through the Alpine sky.
Géraldine Fasnacht, based in Verbier and a leading figure in wingsuit flying worldwide, is among the confirmed performers. Her iconic opening flights in Antarctica, Baffin and across the Alps such as the Matterhorn and the Drus have gained worldwide recognition, and she brings unmatched experience in Alpine conditions to the Verbier Air Show. Other highly acclaimed international wingsuit pilots such as the Soulflyers are part of the programme with formation flights and spectacular close-proximity passes.
Wingsuit demonstrations are planned for Saturday 11 April between 10 AM and 3 PM, alongside the base jumping programme from Mont Gelé, then from 3 PM above the Médran area. If wind conditions are unfavourable, flights may be rescheduled to Sunday 12 April.
